Nsukka LGA Chairman Asogwa Doffs Hat For Mbah Over N1bn Oxygen Plant, Others


*Vows That His People Will Return Gov, Tinubu In 2027

Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area (LGA), Enugu State, Engr. Jude Asogwa, has applauded the State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for installing a N1 billion oxygen plant in Nsukka General Hospital and providing other aspects of quality healthcare in the area.

Asogwa took the position while speaking to members of Enugu State correspondents chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at Ihe Health Care Centre, Nsukka, during a facility tour inspection facilitated by Gov. Mbah.

He noted that the installation of the plant will impact overall healthcare as private or public hospitals in the LGA will now have regular oxygen supply as well as relevant facilities in their various hospitals, to save lives.

Asogwa also disclosed that 20 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs), being built in different communities in the area, had reached over 90 per cent completion level, adding that the Ihe Primary Healthcare Centre, is now open to members of the public.

The Chairman noted that the contractor handling the project has even exceeded the number of healthcare centres meant for Nsukka LGA by one, bringing the total number of PHCs in the area to 21.

He also noted that Gov Mbah’s administration is not only building Type-2 Health Care Centres, but also upgrading more to General Hospital status, revitalizing the Nsukka General Hospital as well as providing relevant equipment.

“There is pressure on us to make sure that we tidy up with the contractors because the 20 contractors working in Nsukka have been paid by the governor. Our duty is to follow up and make sure that they comply,” he said.

The Chairman said that work on the 20 brand new Smart Green Schools are already at various levels of completion.

According to him, “he is not building Green Smart School, he is also giving them school uniforms.”

“The Council is taking delivery of 86 computers for each of the 20 Smart Green Schools, television screens, laboratory equipment, free school uniforms as well as desks and chairs for our children’s experiential-tailored learning,” he added.

Asogwa expressed the gratitude of Nsukka people to Gov.Mbah for the massive dualisation work on the Enugu-Nike-Opi-Nsukka Road, some completed roads and others still in the works.

“We are grateful to His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah for the massive developmental projects from health, education, roads, social interventions and a brand new teaching hospital in Nsukka axis of the state.

“We are also grateful to President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Mbah for making it possible for us to have now the first Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) from Nsukka extraction.

“There is serious reconstruction work ongoing at the 9th Mile-Nsukka-Obollo Afor dual carriageway, which cuts across Nsukka LGA by the President Tinubu’s administration,” he said.

Engr. Asogwa said that the Council Area will vote massively for both President Tinubu and Gov. Mbah in the 2027 general elections as a show of gratitude for their developmental impact in Nsukka.
