Abuja, the nation’s capital, is agog as President Bola Tinubu gets set to receive the All Progressives Congress (APC) certificate of return and the party’s flag as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, tomorrow.
Already, virtually all APC State Governors, members of the ruling party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), the National Working Committee (NWC), lawmakers from the National Assembly, and other party leaders have stormed Abuja for the august occasion.
A statement by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, said the presentation will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja after the nationwide collation of results from the party’s primary election.
Onanuga said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Sunday receive the certificate and flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.”
The statement, shared on X on Saturday, said APC governors, members of the National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee, lawmakers from the National Assembly, and other party leaders are expected to attend the event.
Meanwhile, nationwide, the President has continued to secure huge, majority votes from the primary.
In Sokoto, he clinched all 301,000 votes cast during the exercise held across the North-West state.
The results of the primary election, conducted in the state’s 3,991 polling units spread across the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs), were officially announced in Sokoto by the State Chief Returning Officer and Governor of the State, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto.
Disclosing the outcome of the exercise, Gov. Aliyu stated that 301,000 registered party members were accredited and all successfully participated in the voting process.
According to the governor, President Tinubu emerged victorious with the total votes cast, while his sole challenger, Mr. Stanley Osifo, failed to secure any vote.
Governor Aliyu described the primary election as peaceful, transparent and orderly, noting that the exercise was conducted without any incident in all the polling units across the state.
He added that the collated results had been verified and would subsequently be transmitted to the partys National Collation Centre in Abuja.
The governor commended party officials, members and collation officers across the 23 LGAs for their dedication, fairness and commitment to the successful conduct of the primary election.
He also expressed appreciation to the APC leader in Sokoto State and former governor, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, for his continued support, leadership and guidance to the party in the state.
Speaking shortly after the announcement, the Sokoto State APC Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Sarkin Gobir Adiya, praised party stakeholders and supporters for ensuring a smooth and successful exercise, describing the process as a strong demonstration of unity within the party.
Among dignitaries present at the declaration ceremony were the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Engr. Idris Muhammad Gobir; Minister of State for Works, Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo; Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga; and several APC leaders and elected officials from across the state.
