*Gov Seeks Partnership With Church On Peace, Security, Others
Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has called for stronger collaboration between government and the Church to sustain peace, security and development in the South-East State.
He spoke as clergymen from Okigwe zone lauded his developmental strides in the State.
The governor made the appeal during a courtesy visit on him by delegation of the clergy from the zone drawn from the Catholic, Anglican and Methodist Churches.
He commended the religious leaders for promoting unity and supporting efforts aimed at restoring peace across the State.
According to Gov. Uzodimma, the partnership between government and the Church remains vital because the Church serves as society’s moral conscience.
He urged the clergy to continue praying for his administration and that of President Bola Tinubu, while encouraging young people to reject violence and embrace productive ventures.
The governor also noted that the ongoing Federal and State interventions in infrastructure, healthcare and education, were made possible by President Tinubu’s magnanimity, assuring the people of transparent and accountable governance.
Speaking on behalf of the clergy, Rev. Fr. Peterclever Ohaeri praised Uzodimma for what he described as remarkable achievements under the administration’s 3R agenda of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery.
Ohaeri particularly commended the governor’s role in securing presidential approval for the proposed Federal University in Okigwe, expressing optimism that the institution would soon commence operations.
He also lauded the ongoing construction of the Okigwe 63MVA electrical substation, describing it as a major boost to power supply and economic growth in the zone.
The cleric further acknowledged efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery through support for the Teaching Hospital in the area, while applauding improvements in security across the State.
“You have reconstructed Imo State, rehabilitated Imo State and recovered what belongs to Imo State,” Ohaeri emphasised as he urged the governor to sustain the momentum in development and security initiatives.
Ven. Innocent Ezeji of the Anglican Communion, and Very Rev. Chukwunyere Eze of the Methodist Church, lent their voices in appreciating Gov. Uzodimma for his giant strides in Okigwe zone and across the State.
Present at the visit were: the Senator representing Imo North District, Senator Patrick Ndubueze; some members of Imo State House of Assembly; Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Cosmas Iwu; members of the State Expanded Executive Council, other stakeholders and leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.
