It is now the turn of Murtala Sule Garo to become Deputy Governor of Kano State, baring any unforeseen circumstances, as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has forwarded his name to the State House of Assembly for confirmation.

In a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mustafa Muhammad Inuwa, the governor, in a letter to the State Assembly Speaker, stated that the action was in line with Section 191(3) of 1999 Constitution (as amended).

He disclosed that he picked Garo after due consultations with stakeholders.

Governor Yusuf therefore requested the Assembly’s confirmation of the nominee.

Once the legislative process ends positively, Garo, 48, will replace the former occupant of the post, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam who resigned on 27 March this year.

Before now, Garo was the gubernatorial running mate to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, in the 2023 elections.

He has also held various political positions such as State Party Organiser; Special Adviser, Intergovernmental Affairs; Chairman, Kabo Local Government; and State Commissioner for Local Government under the administration of then Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje.
