The people of Mbakor in Benue State have described Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, as a selfless and detribalised Nigerian who has remained committed to the corporate existence of the country.
They spoke through chairman, Makurdi branch of their umbrella Mbakor Community Development Association (MBACODA), Mr Augustine Torough.
In an exclusive interview with People&Politics, Torough lauded Senator Akume for his contributions to national development, saying he remained committed and selfless in all he has been doing for country, community, and the state.
Torough who expressed the preparedness and the desire of the community, who are kinsmen of the SGF, to support him and President Bola Tinubu, assured that they would remain firm to ensure the success of both.
The chairman emphasised that Senator Akume has not lost touch with his community and continued to support his people in various ways, a gesture which,Torough noted, has endeared him to all.
“Akume is a man of the people, a detribalised Nigerian, a patriotic Nigerian who has the Nigerian project at heart. The high, the low, literate and illiterate are all his people and above all he has no permanent enemy,” he said.
Torough pointed out that the SGF has continued to provide rice and fertilizer, among other items, to members of the community to soften the blows of hardship, revealing that the community,in turn, also resolved to give him unalloyed support.
The chairman called on all Nigerians to also support the SGF even as his office remains strategic to the success of the Tinubu-led Federal Government.
Torough, who urged the SGF to continue to carry his people along, emphasized that home remains the foundation of anyone’s success, stressing that with the solid foundation laid by the SGF, he has no reason to lose anytime.
He called on all Benue sons and daughters to support the Mbakor-born politician to ensure his success and the success of the Federal Government, where he is a key player.
While appealing to the people to imbibe the virtues of love and unity for harmonious coexistence and for the development of the community, Torough said that these virtues, among others, were found in the SGF and which people need to emulate for the progress of the community, state and country at large.
He urged President Tinubu not to be distracted by selfish elements who are not interested in the peace and progress of the nation but remain focused on delivering people-oriented projects in the country.
According to the chairman, Senator Akume has not disappointed Nigerians in any assignment and would not disappoint President Tinubu and Nigerians in his role as SGF.
