Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police in charge of Zone 4, Zacharia Fera Achinyan, has assured residents of Benue, Plateau, and Nasarawa States of robust security arrangements throughout the forthcoming Yuletide season.

The AIG, through a statement from the zonal Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Ayo Oluwaseun Martins, reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe, peaceful, and hitch-free festive celebration for all citizens in line with the statutory mandate of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to protect lives and property.

According to the spokesman, the AIG has directed the Commissioners of Police (CPs) in the zone to develop and implement comprehensive and watertight security strategies to guarantee the safety of residents as they go about their lawful activities and enjoy the festivities.

The AIG, the PPRO added, cautioned officers and men of the Force to conduct themselves professionally and courteously in their interactions with members of the public and warned against acts of misconduct, particularly extortion and harassment of motorists, especially along highways and major roads.

Achinyan, whom the spokesman quoted as felicitating with members of the public on the Yuletide, also assured residents that Police Zone 4 would actively supervise and monitor security operations across the states under its jurisdiction throughout the festive period.

The AIG urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, assured them of the Police’s readiness to respond swiftly and effectively.
