Sokoto State House of Assembly has called on the State government, the national and state Emergency Management Agencies (NEMA and SEMA) and other relevant authorities to, as a matter of urgency, come to the aid of victims of flood in Dange Shuni, Kebbe and Gada Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
The call was made under a matter of urgent public importance on a flood disaster that affected several communities in the area.
The motion was seconded by Hon. Bashir Isah, member representing Tambuwal East constituency.
In their separate elaborations on the matter, members representing Gada East, Hon. Kabiru Dauda; Dange Shuni, Hon. Sirajo Muhammad, and Kebbe, Hon. Samaila Hamisu, said that the flood had resulted in significant damage to properties, displacement of persons,band caused widespread destruction affecting homes and infrastructure.
They said the matter is a critical one that requires swift and decisive action by the state executive and relevant authorities.
Later, Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, declared the Assembly’s resolve to call on the state government, NEMA, SEMA and others to come to the aid of the affected communities as soon as possible.
