Obviously, all is not well in the Benue State House of Assembly as barely 48 hours after the resignation of Speaker Aondona Dajoh and assumption of office of his successor, Rt. Hon. Alfred Emberga, the former has, today, been suspended from office by the Assembly.

He was sent home for three months.

The legislature justified its action by saying Dajoh had attempted to impeach the State Governor Hyacinth Alia.

In a case of tit for tat reminiscent of the an eye for an eye philosophy, Dajoh’s suspension was initiated by some of those he earlier suspended when he served as Speaker.

Dajoh’s suspension followed a motion moved by the lawmaker representing Kyan constituency, Hon. Terna Shimawua, and seconded by Hon. James Umoru of Apa constituency.

Shimawua, who moved the motion during plenary, was one of those suspended by Dajoh before his resignation as Speaker at the weekend.

Ruling on the motion to suspend Dajoh, Speaker Emberga reviewed Dajoh’s suspension from six to three months without the usual votes on such matters.

In another development, the Assembly today reversed itself and confirmed the nomination of Timothy Yangien Ornguga, a Law teacher at the State University, Makurdi, as State Commissioner.

He had earlier been rejected by the then Speaker Dajoh.
