Good tidings came for the Muslim faithful in Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria, as former governor and Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has donated 80 trucks of assorted fertilisers to them for wet season farming.
The senator further donated 30 trucks of 50Kg bags of rice for distribution ahead of Eid-el-Kabir festivity.
These were contained in a statement by the Chairman, Publicity and Media Committee for Senator Yari Political Organization, Hon. Ibrahim Mohammad.
Speaking shortly after a meeting in Gusau, the state capital, Chairman of the state distribution committee, Dr. Lawal M. Liman, who holds the traditional title of Gabdon Kaura, said it has been the practice of Senator Yari to engage in such humanitarian gesture annually for farmers and the needy so as to assist them.
Dr. Liman, who is also Chairman, Governing Board, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika Zaria, Kaduna State, stated that while the rice would be distributed to beneficiaries free of cost across the State at five persons per bag, the fertilisers are to be sold to interested farmers at 50 percent discount.
According to him, a minimum of 6,000 persons will be drawn from each of the state’s 14 Local Government Areas to benefit from the rice exercise, totalling about 84, 000 beneficiaries.
He appealed to beneficiaries of the two programs to sustain their positive prayers for the donor as well as President Bola Tinubu whom, he said, is doing everything humanly possible to improve their living standard and secure a better future for Nigerians.
