Easter: Alia Gives 3 Work-free Days To Civil Servants

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has declared three work-free days to enable residents of the largely Christian North-Central State celebrate Easter.

This is in recognition of the significance of Easter to the Christian community in Benue State,a government statement said.

The statement from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) indicated that Gov. Alia has declared Thursday, Friday, and Monday as work-free days for all civil servants.

The statement, signed by the SSG, Mrs Serumun Deborah Aber, revealed that the decision was to enable civil servants participate fully in the sacred celebrations and observances of the Easter Triduum, which holds deep spiritual significance for Christians around the world.

According to the statement, all government Offices and Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) during the three days would be closed.

“We encourage all citizens to use this opportunity to reflect, recharge, and spend quality time with their loved ones,” she urged.

The Governor, the statement added, has extended his warm wishes to all Christians in the State and beyond and prayed that the Easter celebrations bring joy, peace, and spiritual renewal to everyone.

“May we emerge from this period of reflection and celebration rejuvenated and strengthened in our faith and service to humanity and a determination for a greater Benue,” the statement read.
