Northerners, South-Westerners Don’t Own Properties In South-East,But I’ll Break The Ice,Says Senator Sani

Frank-talking Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central senatorial district in the 8th Senate, has regretted that many persons from the Northern and South-Western parts of Nigeria do not own properties in the South-East of the country.

While not blaming the South-Easterners for the development, Sen. Sani described the South-East as beautiful.

He opted to purchase a piece of property there, periodically visit the place for holidays, and thus encourage persons from the North and South-West to do same.

Sen. Sani, in his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, posted that Northerners and South-Westerners do not usually buy and own properties in the South-East states of Enugu, Imo, Anambra and others. He did not say why.

His concern came amid the near-voracious purchase/construction and ownership by the South-East Igbo of properties, including choice types, in virtually every part of Nigeria.

Sani explained that his move to own property in the South-East should break the ice, reduce apathy and encourage Northerners and South-Westerners to follow suit and so participate in relishing the beautiful landscape of the area.

He said: “I will try and buy a house in Enugu or Owerri or Awka, so that I can be going there during holidays. May be after I have done that, Northerners and South-Westerners will start owning properties there and enjoying the beauty of that part of our country.”
