On-bail Farotimi Insists On Allegations Against Babalola

Human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, still stands on the allegations he made against legal luminary, Chief Afe Babalola, SAN, in his controversial book ‘Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System’.

Part of the allegations dwell on some illegal involvements in the processes and workings of the Bench.

Farotimi claimed that he has never lied against anybody in his life, noting that “if I don’t know, I will say ‘I don’t know’.”

He was fielding questions from journalists after regaining his freedom from the Ekiti State Correctional Centre, upon fulfilling his bail conditions.

His words: “It is not ever an easy journey when you are fighting evil, but some years back, before I started this work, God told me that the truth is enough. It is the only weapon with which you can slay the monster called Nigeria: which is the truth.

“In my war against the evil empire that we all live in, I have never lied against anyone. If I don’t know, I will say ‘I don’t know’.”

On Friday, a magistrate court in Ado-Ekiti,the Ekiti state capital, South-West Nigeria, granted the popular lawyer bail in the sum of N30 million, aside ordering him to produce two sureties, one of whom must be a property owner.
