Zubby Michael Officially Joins ADC, To Run For Office In 2027?

Popular Nollywood actor, Zubby Michael, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking his formal entry into the nation’s murky political terrain, barely 10 months to the 2027 general elections.

In a now-viral video and still photo, the poster boy of youth success through talent was spotted holding an ADC membership card, confirming his alignment with the party, which boasts heavyweights such as former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in 2023, Peter Obi; former Senate President David Mark; ex-governors of Osun and Kaduna States, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Nasir El-Rufai respectively; former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi: and many others.

One of the avowed commitments of ADC is to remove President Bola Tinubu from office in next year’s elections.

Furthermore, Michael was also dressed in a branded attire bearing the party’s logo, signaling his commitment to the party’s philosophy.

Analysts believe the entry of the widely-admired actor will likely give fillip to ADC among the youth, who reportedly are of higher percentage among voters, going by statistics from electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

With a nationwide huge fan followership and reputed for bold interpretation of film roles depicting youth values, Michael is viewed as an asset and now joins a growing list of actors, actresses and songsters who have thrown their hats in the political ring.

Those familiar with his current career transition say the actor had been under pressure from supporters and political stakeholders to take the plunge into politics and help positively define the nation’s destiny.

Although no official position has been declared yet, there are growing speculations that Michael could run for legislative office in 2027.

His entry into politics mirrors the path of figures like Desmond Elliot, who successfully moved from entertainment into public office. He is a lawmaker with Lagos State House of Assembly representing Surulere constituency 1 on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) since 2015.
