Joshua Ishaku of All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the Bwari Area Council Chairmanship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The election was conducted across the 10 wards of the council— Igu, Shere, Dutse, Ushafa, Byazhin, Kuduru, Kubwa, Usuma, Bwari Central and Kawu.
Announcing the results today in Bwari, the Returning Officer for the election, Professor Mohammed Nurudeen, stated that Ishaku polled a total of 18,466 votes to emerge victorious in Saturday’s poll.
Nurudeen said: “I am the Returning Officer for the 2026 FCT Area Council Bwari Chairmanship held on Feb. 21, 2026. That Joshua Ishaku, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
From the results declared, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came second, with 4,254 votes, while the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) polled 3,515 votes to place third.
PDP Wins Gwagwalada
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won Gwagwalada Area Council Chairmanship election.
This was revealed by INEC which declared Mohammed Kasim of PDP winner of the poll.
The Chairmanship election was conducted in 10 wards of the council, namely; Paiko, Dobi, Gwako, Ibwa, Staff Quarters, Zuba, Ikwa, Kutunku, Gwagwalada Centre and Tunga Maje.
Returning Officer for the Gwagwalada election, Professor Philip Akpeni, announced the results in Gwagwalada.
He disclosed that Kasim polled a total of 22,165 votes.
“I am the Returning Officer for the 2026 FCT Area Council, Gwagwalada Chairmanship held on Feb. 21, 2026.
“That Mohammed Kasim of PDP, having certified the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” he said.
Akpeni added that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yahaya Usman, scored a total of 17,788 votes,for second place, while Biko Umar of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party came third, scoring 1, 687 in the process.
