Constituents Applaud Senator Akin Alabi Over Performance At Budget Defence

Constituents from Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency and stakeholders across Oyo State have commended the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Works, Hon. Akin Alabi, for his “outstanding performance” during the budget defence session of the Federal Ministry of Works held last week at the National Assembly.

Observers at the session noted that Hon. Alabi played a pivotal role in guiding proceedings, formally opening the floor for the Minister, Dave Umahi, to present the Ministry’s proposals and ensuring that deliberations were conducted in an orderly and professional manner.

At some points during the engagement, the session witnessed tense exchanges among lawmakers, including Senators Adams Oshiomhole, Onyekachi Nwebonyi, and Rufai Hanga.

Proceedings were, however, effectively managed under his leadership –a development many constituents described as a demonstration of maturity, experience, and firm legislative capacity.

Speaking after the engagement, some constituents expressed pride in the lawmaker’s conduct, noting that his performance reflected strong representation and a deep understanding of the oversight responsibilities of the National Assembly.

They also highlighted his consistent advocacy for improved funding, timely execution, and sustainable maintenance of federal roads, particularly those affecting communities in Oyo State.

Community leaders and youth groups further praised Hon. Alabi’s commitment to ensuring that government projects translate to tangible benefits for the people, emphasising that his interventions at the budget defence highlighted his dedication to infrastructure development and economic growth.

Many stakeholders also noted that the lawmaker’s performance reinforces an important principle of governance, saying continuity remained the best path to sustained progress.

They emphasised that experienced and ranking lawmakers command respect, provide stability in legislative proceedings, and are better positioned to protect the interests of their constituents.

Hon. Alabi expressed his continued commitment to effective legislative oversight and to attracting meaningful development that would enhance economic activities and improve the quality of lives of constituents.

Stakeholders expressed confidence that his continued leadership in the House Committee on Works would contribute significantly to addressing infrastructure challenges and accelerating road development across the country.
