PDP Crisis: Wike’s Aide Berates Bode George

Lere Olayinka, media aide to Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has carpeted a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, over comments he made on the crisis rocking the party.

Olayinka spoke on a politics programme aired on 32 FM, Ibadan, weekend, saying the elder statesman did not speak with decorum.

Chief George had granted an interview on a television programme, criticizing a judge that delivered a judgment in one of the cases involving the national leadership of the PDP.

But Olayinka, stating the position of his principal, who is a PDP top notcher, on the matter, said Chief George erred in his statement.

“A supposed elder statesman shouldn’t be talking about a judge like this. They went to the judiciary to seek help. If they did not get what they wanted, they shouldn’t disparage the court.

“The rules of the party say before you hold a convention, there must be congresses in all the states of the federation. If the PDP wanted to do convention, all aspirants moved to all the states to convince delegates.

“See, because (Sule) Lamido was prevented from buying form to contest, he went to court; they refused to sell form to him. So, the court said they shouldn’t conduct convention until they sold form to him. Did they comply with that?

“You disobeyed the court and went back to the same court to uphold the convention it asked you not to hold. The other group also went to court and said that would not be,” Olayinka said.

The former spokesman to former Governor Ayo Fayose also said Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, had never been faithful to the PDP.

“Makinde has never been loyal to the PDP; he left the party to contest on the ticket of other parties like four times,” he said.
