To ensure strict compliance with sanitation rules and make Benue State tidy, the management of Benue State Environmental Sanitation Agency (BENSESA) said it would henceforth crack down on violators of sanitation rules.

Speaking with a select group of journalists in his office in Makurdi, the state capital, General Manager (GM) of the agency, Mr. Cletus Anta Igbaato, said that some people even in Makurdi metropolis were fond of contravening sanitation rules.

The GM noted that the drainages in Makurdi, as well as roads constructed by Governor Hyacinth Alia, were already blocked with refuse –a development, he said, was not in the interest of the state.

Igbaato admitted that waste is generated everyday but those concerned should ensure the cleanliness of their vicinity as failure to comply would attract the wrath of the law.

He warned: “We can drag them to mobile court.”

The GM admonished that where there are containers for the purpose of waste disposal, those close to such containers should drop their waste in those containers for possible evacuation.

“I go out myself with some officials of the agency to evacuate the waste and ensure the compliance of the people whose frontages are blocked. We are also going out tomorrow to oversee what our people are doing in the field,” he disclosed.

The GM promised to work with any nongovernmental organization desirous to benefit Benue people in the area of sanitation, warning that those without genuine interest of the people would not be welcome.

The Benue State sanitation boss called on the people of the state to support Gov. Alia to enable him not to only succeed but achieve more for the benefit of the state.

Meanwhile, Executive Secretary (E.S), Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), Dr. Pius Akuta, has sued for sustained support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of President Bola Tinubu to succeed.

Akuta also called for support for the leader of the party in North Central, Senator George Akume, who is the Secretary to Government of the Federation, (SGF) beyond 2027 to enable the President consolidate on “his good works.”

The ES made the call in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State, while speaking at a reception organized in honour of a UK-based cleric, Rev. (Dr.) Emmanuel Agune, who was also honoured with the chieftaincy title of ‘Sema Wan U Mbazeku’ and Ambassadorial award of Kindness and Community Development by members of the Nongo Agune family in collaboration with youths of the community, elders and members of NKST Asukunya in Tarka Local Government Area.

He commended the efforts of the cleric in his thirst for knowledge despite his humble background as well as his commitment to grassroot development, attesting that those antecedents endeared him to thousands of people including his immediate community.

While noting that God Almighty would continue to bless Rev. Agune, he also expressed the belief that the cleric would continue to touch lives of those in need, especially in his immediate community, and appealed to the people of Tarka and Gboko federal constituency to rally round the SGF and the President for Benue to reap more dividends of democracy.

Former Auditor General of the Federation,(AGF) Samuel Ukura, in his comments, acknowledged the contributions of Rev. Agune, affirming that the cleric has awarded scholarships to students of Tarka in different institutions, employed teachers in selected community secondary schools in Tarka on his payroll, distributed thousands of exercise books to schools in Mbakor even as he also supported families for health and social needs.
