Though the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Governor Chukwuma Soludo re-elected in weekend’s Anambra State governorship poll, the candidate of left-wing African Action Congress (AAC), actress Chioma Ifemeludike, who polled 292 votes in the election, thumbed up herself for the feat.
AAC is the political party that fielded activist Omoyele Sowore as presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections in which INEC declared President Bola Tinubu as winner.
Describing herself as a winner despite losing the election to Gov. Soludo, Ifemeludike said the votes she got were based on voters’ belief in her principles and personal integrity.
Soludo of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), according to INEC, won the election with 422,664 votes while All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer, Nicholas Ukachukwu, was second with 99,445 votes.
Apparently beating her chest in a post shared on her X handle on Sunday, Ifemeludike said her modest vote was a symbolic victory anchored on principles rather than political machinery.
“Integrity stands firm and higher than political deception. I’m a winner!” she posted.
During the electioneering campaign proper, the young actress gained remarkable online traction on account of her flashy photos and attractive videos.
Reviewing her electoral performance, Ifemeludike expressed personal satisfaction
with her outing, stressing that her campaign was conducted without malpractice.
The AAC flag bearer noted that her participation in the election threw up the benefits of sincerity, courage, and clean politics in a political ecosystem flooded by monied and larger political parties.
