President Bola Tinubu has charged the new service chiefs not to leave any stone unturned in the country’s battle against insecurity.
The President gave the directive today during the decoration of the service chiefs at Ado Rock, Abuja, stressing that Nigerians expect results and not excuses.
He said: “Of grave concern to our administration is the recent emergence of new armed groups in the North-Central, North-West, and parts of the South. We must not allow these new threats to fester.
“We must be decisive and proactive. Let us smash the new snakes right in the head. We cannot allow the crisis that began in 2009 to persist any longer.”
“I charge you, as the heads of our nation’s Armed Forces, to carry out your duties with patriotic zeal. Nigerians expect results, not excuses,” he added.
Tinubu hailed the Armed Forces for their efforts in the country’s fight against insecurity which, he noted, had led to the restoration of peace to many areas previously under siege, rescued countless kidnapped citizens, and significantly reduced the capacity of terror groups.
The President believed the military can, nonetheless, do more, particularly with the dynamic nature of the security threats across the country.
