As Nigeria commemorates its 65th Independence Day, Enugu South Local Government Area (LGA), Dr. Caleb Onyema Ani, has extended warm felicitations to the State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, and the people of Enugu South, Nkanuland, and Enugu State generally.

In a statement issued on the historic occasion, the Chairman, popularly known as ‘People’s Mayor’, lauded the unyielding spirit, courage, and determination of Nigerians, particularly the indomitable residents of Enugu South, who continue to shine as beacons of hope amid challenging times.

In his address, Ani reflected on the profound significance of the Independence Day milestone, describing it as a moment to honor Nigeria’s journey and celebrate the collective strides made toward a brighter future “under the visionary leadership of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State in charting a path of progress and transformation.”

He added: “Our Governor came prepared for the sacred task of state-building, and his purposeful leadership is steering us toward a future of promise and prosperity. Today, even as we navigate economic challenges, we pause to give thanks for the dynamic leadership at both state and grassroots levels, which continues to inspire hope and unity.”

The 65th Independence Day, according to him, is more than a celebration as it is also a poignant reminder of Nigeria’s enduring strength and the sacrifices of its founding fathers whose relentless struggle secured the nation’s freedom in 1960.

“This anniversary is a rare and significant milestone, an opportunity to reflect on our shared journey as a people, to celebrate our achievements, and to recommit to the ideals of unity, peace, and progress that define us as a nation,” he noted.

With eloquence and passion, he called on the people of Enugu South and Nigerians to honor the legacy of the nation’s heroes by working tirelessly for a united and prosperous Nigeria.

“Let us not forget the sacrifices of our forebears, who fought with courage and conviction to birth this great nation,” he urged.

“As we celebrate, let us renew our commitment to building a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and generations yet to come. Together, we can forge a Nigeria that stands as a testament to resilience, unity, and shared dreams,” the Chairman added.

Ani’s message is a clarion call for collective action, urging the citizenry to draw inspiration from the past while embracing the opportunities of the present.
