A presidential handshake came the way of grieving family of the late Head of Service, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mrs Grace Adayilo, as President Bola Tinubu today granted automatic employment to her four children.
On September 1, 2025, Adayilo reportedly slumped in her home in Abuja and was pronounced dead by medical doctors at a hospital to which she was rushed.
The sudden death, coming after video recordings showed her dancing, leading songs and praises in a church just the weekend before, sparked concerns among staff and keen followers of developments in FCTA of a possible juju attack.
The shocking news trailed a horror incident in a money-spinning subsidiary of FCTA where the slightly fair-complexioned retiring Director in charge of the agency was suddenly afflicted with near-blindness and a half-darkened face on the heels of rumour that he was on the verge of being granted one-year tenure extension. Subsequently, the Director promptly retired to save his life.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike disclosed the presidential goody on the younger Adayilos at a funeral service held at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja for their mother, Saturday, September 20.
The solemn ceremony drew top government officials, civil servants, relatives and friends who came to honour her memory.
Calling her passing a “painful loss,” Wike lauded Adayilo as a devoted, humble and hardworking public servant whose impact on FCTA would not be forgotten.
Wike said: “On behalf of the FCT Administration and Mr. President, I extend our deepest condolences to her family.
“The President has instructed that her four children be offered automatic employment, understanding that the family has lost its breadwinner.”
The Minister, who had appointed Adayilo as Head of Service, commended her exceptional service, highlighting her role in ensuring prompt payment of workers’ salaries and benefits and her influence as a respected mobilizer within her community.
Wike encouraged Nigerians to emulate her dedication, emphasizing that life’s uncertainty makes it vital to serve both God and humanity wholeheartedly.
At the service, Adayilo, remembered as a selfless leader and motherly figure, was celebrated by colleagues and loved ones for her inspiring career and her commitment to the welfare of others.
