Unemployed Special One: Mourinho’s Bank Account Gets Fatter Even With The Sack (Details)

*A Different Kind Of Unemployed He Is

*Rain Of Cash Is Torrential In His Life

José Mourinho is, without question, one of the most decorated managers in world football.

The Portuguese coach boasts an illustrious résumé that includes stints at Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, and most recently Fenerbahçe, from which he was abruptly dismissed earlier this week.

It is hardly a new situation for Mourinho, who has experienced similar exits at his previous clubs.

Yet, as the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining — and in his case, each departure has significantly boosted his bank account.

His latest dismissal alone has earned him a staggering €15 million (about N23bn) in compensation, on top of the earnings he collected while on the sidelines.

Chelsea had to pay him twice: €20.9 million (about N37.1bn at current rate) during his first spell and another €9.6 million (about N17.1bn) in his second tenure.

Real Madrid parted ways with €19.7 million (about N35.1bn) while Manchester United paid out €22 million (about N40bn).

His departure from Tottenham brought in €17.4 million (about N30.9bn), and Roma settled with €3.5 million (about N6.2bn).

To save you the math: Mourinho has accumulated €108.1 million (N192.1bn) solely in severance packages — an extraordinary figure by any standard.

And when combined with the salaries he has earned at these clubs, the total fortune he has amassed is something only for others to calculate.
