A former Governor of Edo State, Professor Osarieme Osunbor, has lauded the love and unity still existing among old students of Anglican Grammar School, Ujolen in Edo State, enjoining them to remain united.
Professor Osunbor made the commendation during the 50th marriage anniversary of former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rev. (Dr) Peter Obadan and his wife, Gloria E. Obadan, held recently in Benin City.
Osunbor, who chaired the historic occasion attended by eminent Edo sons and daughters, described Rev. Obadan as a hardworking man, whose success came through relentless effort of serving God Almighty.
According to him, they met in 1964 and 1968 set as students of Ujolen Grammar School, adding that the celebrant was very humble, prayerful and a brilliant student.
Dr. Obadan was Deputy Governor to then Gov. Odigie Oyegun.
“Till date, he (Obadan) is still very hardworking and respects both young and old”, said Professor Osunbor who also commended his wife, Gloria.
The occasion which was graced by former Deputy Governors, Asiwaju Mike Ogiadiohme, and Okakuro (Dr) Pius Egberamen Odubu, former Secretary to Edo State Government, and elder statesman, Sir Clement Alile, and others was a cheery event.
Archbishop Joseph Ojo performed the marital vow aspect of the anniversary while renowned cleric, Bishop Felix Omobude, took the affirmation of marriage.
Rt. Revd. Augustine Ohilebo, Anglican Bishop of Sabongida-Ora Diocese, where the celebrant hails from, as well as Hon. Agharese Idubor and others added colour to the occasion.
