*Rescue 3 Minors Of Same Father, Nab Abductors
By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna
Police in Kaduna State ensured a gang of kidnappers in the Northern political capital had a ‘bad market’ after they abducted three minors.
Obviously licking their lips and eyeing a fruitful market day, the kidnappers hid the children and then placed a demand for a princely N50million ransom from the children’s father.
He was either to pay up or the unthinkable would be visited on his precious children.
According to a statement issued to newsmen today and signed by Kaduna State Police Command spokesman, Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Mansir Hassan, crack detectives swung into action upon receiving a distress report lodged by father of the children.
Police stated: “On 26th August 2025 at about 1500hrs, a distress report was lodged by a father that his three children, Aslam Umar Lukman (14yrs), Suleiman Umar Tanko (12yrs), and Aliyu Umar Tanko (10yrs), were kidnapped on 25th August 2025 at about 1345hrs, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of fifty million Naira (₦50,000,000).”
Police added that upon receiving the report, operatives of the Command, “through strategic intelligence gathering and tactical communication”, hit the ground running and lured one of the suspects, identified as Richard Philip, allegedly the kingpin, out of the suspects’ hideout and eventually arrested him.
According to the police, during interrogation the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime and revealed a conspiracy with one Ibrahim Ma’aruf, an 18-year-old male, and another teenager, one Abubakar Sadiq, aged 15, to kidnap the children and hide them at his (Philip’s) residence.
The Command continued: “Acting on the credible intelligence, the police swiftly stormed the location, arrested the culprits, and rescued all three victims unhurt.
“The rescued children have since been safely reunited with their family by the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command.”
They were rescued in a building located on Calabar Road by Sabon Layi, Kurmin Mashi, Kaduna North, the statement further disclosed.
The State Commissioner of Police (CP), Rabiu Muhammad, reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, urging parents to be vigilant.
He assured the public that all forms of criminality will be met with decisive action.
