Ekiti Varsity VC Canvasses Support For PG Studies

Vice Chancellor (VC) of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, Professor Babalola Ayodele, has called on students to embrace postgraduate (PG) programmes for innovations, to thrive in the Nigerian university system.

He described postgraduate programmes as the bedrock of innovation and critical inquiry.

According to a statement by the Deputy Registrar/Head, Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs of the institution, Bode Olofinmuagun, the VC made the remarks while addressing matriculants at the matriculation ceremony for the newly-admitted candidates into the regular, sandwich and professional postgraduate programmes of the university for the 2024/2025 academic session.

“The Vice Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Professor Williams Adebayo, maintained that the postgraduate programmes were to nurture and prepare the students for the future by becoming enigmas of great repute.

“Professor Ayodele challenged the matriculants to foster a culture of pursuing researches with rigour for the purpose of translating their results into making real impact in the society.

“He further advised the new postgraduate students to strive towards addressing pressing global challenges, such as climate change to other challenges posed by natural phenomena like the outbreak of diseases.

“He, therefore, congratulated them on their admission into the university and charged them to make best use of the opportunities offered by the university, which is currently the best state university in Nigeria,” Olofinmuagun said.

The matriculation oath was administered on the matriculants by the Registrar, Mr. Ife Oluwole, after the presentation of the candidates by the Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Babatope Oyewole.
