The body of immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, has arrived the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, Katsina,his home state.
It arrived amid heavy security.
Buhari passed away on Sunday in a UK clinic.
His remains will be interred later today in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
At the airport, the body was received by a committee raised by President Bola Tinubu to ensure a successful state funeral.
The committee is headed by Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.
On hand too to receive the former president was First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, donning a black attire, who arrived earlier in the day.
As part of the airport ceremonies, soldiers gave a brief ceremonial salute before the convoy left for Daura, where final burial preparations are underway.
