Taraba State National Assembly lawmaker, Rep Mark Bako Useni has called on the people of Takum, Ussa and Donga federal constituency to continue to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
The lawmaker, who represents Takum, Ussa and Donga federal constituency at the House of Representatives, expressed confidence that continuous support for President Tinubu’s administration would help attract more dividends of democracy to the region.
Rep Useni, who was Speaker of the State House of Assembly, made the call during a media parley held at Takum, headquarters of Takum Local Government Area (LGA) of the State.
Our correspondent reports that the lawmaker was in Takum where he provided updates on his legislative contributions and development initiatives across the three LGAs that he represents in the National Assembly.
“We must keep aligning with the centre, if we want to benefit more. I’m doing my part, but your support for the President strengthens my hand in lobbying for more developmental projects,” he stated.
Rep Useni further disclosed that he has sponsored about 10 bills and executed over 88 projects for his constituency since his election two years ago into the National Assembly.
Useni mentioned the key bills he personally sponsored as the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023; Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari (Establishment) Bill, 2023); and the Agricultural Council Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023 for establishment of the Federal College of Fisheries and Aquatic Science in Kashimbilla, Takum LGA.
Others, according to him, are the National Park Service Act (Amendment) Bill, 2024; Federal University of Wukari (Establishment) Bill, 2024; National Senior Secondary Education Commission Act (Amendment) Bill, 2024; and National Mathematical Centre Act (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill, 2024.
“In addition to the bills I personally sponsored, me and some of my colleagues have jointly sponsored several notable legislative proposals.
“Those proposals include: A Constitutional amendment bill to set timeframes for the adjudication of civil and criminal cases at Trial and Appellate Courts (HB 616).
“Other co-sponsored Bills are: A Bill for the Establishment of Gifted talented centres across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, including one in Takum; Constitution Alteration Bill, 2024 addressing structural reforms”, he stated.
Speaking on infrastructural developments spread across the three LGAs that made up the federal constituency, Useni revealed that over 88 constituency projects have either been completed or are ongoing in the areas.
He also explained that the said projects range from construction of classroom blocks, and provision of educational materials for schools.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker, who explained that some projects have been fully implemented in those areas, however, noted that others are still ongoing, and reiterated his commitment to ensuring their completion.
