2027 Will Be Referendum On Your Work -Taraba APC Ex-guber Candidate, Bwacha, Alerts Kefas

By Okerafor Athanasius, Jalingo

A chieftain of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State and governorship candidate of the party during the 2023 general elections, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, has called on the State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, to brace up for challenges of allegedly not fulfilling his electioneering campaigns to people of the State.

Bwacha spoke to reporters in his residence in Jalingo, the State capital, on Tuesday, June 10.

The former National Assembly lawmaker, while giving an overview of Kefas’ performance in the past two years, explained that, though he lives outside the state, it will be unfair for him (Bwacha) to say that he is not familiar with goings-on in the North-East State.

Bwacha said that though he is based in Abuja, the nation’s capital, but he visits the State from time to time and in the course of his visits, he has been “hearing groanings, murmurings, lamentations, complaints” from the people of Taraba regarding the perceived under-performance of the Governor.

“The governor’s journey so far, for the past two years, infrastructural-wise, is not encouraging,” he noted.

According to him, remodeling of projects that the Governor has embarked upon across the State is good, pointing out, however, that the people want to see him initiate, execute and complete projects that he will be remembered for.

Bwacha said: “My counsel to him is that he still has opportunities, there’s stilI time, he still has two more years before his tenure would elapse. Let him use the remaining two years to do something that will help him restore his image.

“Since I came here, I have not received any good report about our Governor. Let him make amends using the remaining two years. We should also pray for him so that God can bring him back to fullness. The Scripture says we should pray for our leaders so that he will do what we want.

“It’s not a matter of mockery; when somebody is failing in an assignment, don’t mock at him, pray for him.”

Asked if he will run for Governor in 2027, having lost to Kefas in 2023, Bwacha disclosed: “The first declaration I made after election in 2023 was, if you see me wanting to contest election again, it’s because people are still crying; but if people are happy, I have no reason of contesting election again.

“When I see that the people are happy, I will join the Governor, celebrate and be clapping for him and support him, but if we are still in Egypt, I will ensure that we come out of Goshen and leave Egypt.”
