Hitting the ground running, new Police Commissioner (CP) for Benue State, Emenari Ifeanyi, has deployed Tactical Commanders to troubled areas in the insecurity-ridden Middle Belt state with a charge to restratigize and confront security challenges bedeviling communities in the state.
The CP issued the directive during an emergency meeting with Senior Police Officers (SUPOLS), Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) held at Police Officers Mess, Makurdi on May 3, 2025.
A statement today by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the State Police Command, Sewuese Catherine Anene, which contained these, revealed that CP Ifeanyi encouraged commanders to work with other quasi-security outfits within their Area Of Responsibility (AOR), emphasizing the need for community policing as it embraces a policing style that puts all hands on deck.
According to the police spokesperson, the CP reiterated his stand on zero tolerance for corruption and all forms of unprofessional conduct that could give the Nigeria Police Force a bad name and promised to reward police officers that were professional in carrying out their duties.
The CP, the statement continued, declared his willingness to collaborate with all security agencies, quasi-security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders and everyone who is interested in securing the state.
