Security Agents Thwart Attempted Break-in At Shettima’s Residence


In a dramatic early morning incident, security personnel successfully thwarted an attempted break-in at the Maiduguri, Borno State private residence of Vice President Kashim Shettima.

They apprehended a 35-year-old suspect identified as Musa Ibrahim from the Maduganari area of the city,per a report this evening on Yola, Adamawa-based TGnews.com .

According to the newspaper, which quoted intelligence sources, the incident took place on April 9 at approximately 5:30 am, in the Vice President’s residence located in the New GRA area, off Bama Road, Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, which has been plagued by security challenges.

Reports indicate that Ibrahim attempted to breach the residence’s security by scaling the perimeter wall from the Gadabul River bank located at the western side of the property.

However, the report said, his actions did not go unnoticed. Upon being detected by vigilant security guards, the suspect attempted to flee but was shot in the leg during the ensuing confrontation.

According to the newspaper, immediately after his capture, Ibrahim was transported to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) for medical treatment, where he is currently under observation and reported to be responding well to care.

The incident has raised concerns about security protocols at high-profile residences, prompting a thorough review and bolstering of security measures at the Vice President’s home.

The case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for comprehensive investigation into the suspect’s motives and any potential accomplices.

Authorities are emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance as they continue to address security issues in the region, particularly in light of the ongoing challenges posed by insurgency and criminal activity in Borno State.

“As the investigation unfolds, the community remains on alert, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts between security forces and local residents to ensure safety and stability in the area,” the paper wrote.
