The death of prominent business man, founder of defunct Diamond Bank and pioneer Chairman of MTN Nigeria, Pascal Dozie, has evoked sadness in President Bola Tinubu.
The president stated that he is sad over the development, which occurred in the early hours of today, April 8.
Dozie was aged 85.
Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga disclosed this in a statement today.
Eulogizing the iconic business man, President
Tinubu described him as “a rare breed business leader whose wisdom, humility, and pioneering efforts laid a foundation upon which many continue to build.
“His passing is a profound loss to the private sector and Nigeria.”
Tinubu prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and extended his condolences to the wife, Chinyere, five children and extended family of the deceased.
The president implored the Nigerian private sector to honour Dozie’s memory by upholding the values of integrity, innovation, and nation-building, for which he was renowned.
Dozie passed away just a day before his 86th birthday, following a battle with an age-related illness.
Diamond Bank was one of Nigeria’s most innovative financial institutions before its merger with Access Bank.
He was he bank’s chairman before handing over to his son, Uzoma.
