Trump Absent As US Secret Service Saves White House From Armed Man


A man who was reported as a potential threat and armed with a firearm was shot by United States Secret Service (USSS) personnel near the White House.

The USSS shot the armed adult male on Sunday morning near the White House, the agency confirmed.

At the time of the incident, President Donald Trump was away from the White House, ensuring its security, said a report in the English version of Mundo Deportivo .

According to Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi, the agency had received information about a “suicidal individual” traveling from Indiana to Washington, D.C.

Secret Service personnel subsequently identified a person matching the provided description near the White House and located their parked vehicle.

“As officers approached, the individual brandished a firearm and an armed confrontation ensued, during which shots were fired by our personnel,” Guglielmi stated.

The individual was transported to a hospital, and his current condition remains unknown. No injuries were reported among Secret Service personnel.
