An ugly perspective to the prevailing hunger and poverty in the land manifested in both the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Anambra state, South-East Nigeria, at the weekend --barely four days to Christmas Day. In both areas, scores of persons reportedly lost their lives during stampedes occasioned by jostling for space to collect food items during food distribution exercises. Popular human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, who is facing allegations of cybercrime, has today finally been granted bail by the Ekiti State Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. The activist was arrested following a petition by another lawyer, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN). Farotimi’s bail application came days after the same court denied him (Farotomi) constitutional freedom. By Sylvia Kodilichukwu, Enugu Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed no fewer than 768 personnel for its month-long Yuletide special operations within Enugu State, South-East Nigeria. Sector Commander, FRSC, in the state, Mr Franklin Agbakoba, told newsmen in Enugu on Thursday that the personnel are made up of 483 regular marshals and officers.
