*FEMD To The Rescue

Two separate auto crashes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), yesterday, claimed one life and left four persons injured.
A statement by Head of Public Affairs, FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD), Nkechi Isa, a copy of which was made available to People&Politics, recounted that in one of the accidents, a Toyota Corolla LE vehicle knocked down three pedestrians near the Asokoro office of FEMD.
The incident, FEMD added, occurred about 10.45am.
The statement quoted the Head of FEMD’s Search and Rescue Team, Mr Monday Adie, as saying that the accident occurred when the driver of the Corolla lost control of the vehicle due to brake failure.
Subsequently, he said, the vehicle rammed into three pedestrians before coming to a stop after it hit a police patrol van.
FEMD continued: “Two of the survivors of the incident, Nicholas Daduwo (male), a staff of the High Court, Central Area, and Ernest Nwah ( male), a resident of Akpabio Asaka Street Asokoro have been taken to the Asokoro General Hospital for treatment, while the body of the third victim, a male, has also been deposited at the morgue of the hospital.
“Similarly, a road traffic accident along Kubwa Expressway has left two persons injured.
“The accident occurred when a vehicle moving at top speed rear-ended a Volkswagen Golf, pushing it into the roadside gutter.
”Both victims of the incident have been taken to the hospital.”
