Fresh tragedy has befallen Kebbi State, North-West Nigeria, as three officers of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) were murdered on Thursday night by gunmen suspected to be members of the Lakurawa terrorist group.
The armed men had attacked a checkpoint manned by the officers in Bakin Ruwa community, Bagudu Local Government Area (LGA) of the State.
Not done with the murders, the assailants also burnt down a patrol vehicle and destroyed the shelter area at the checkpoint.
The incident came to light in a post shared today by security analyst Bakatsine on X.
Bakatsine further shared a video showing the aftermath of the attack.
The analyst wrote: “Yesterday night, gunmen suspected to be Lakurawa attack Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) checkpoint in Bakin Ruwa community, Bagudu LGA of Kebbi State. They killed 3 NIS officer, set a vehicle ablaze and destroyed the shelter area during the attack.
“What steps do you think communities and authorities can take to improve safety in situations like this?”
Recall that recently, terrorists kidnapped 25 school girls from a government-owned secondary school in the State.
