The winner of this Moroccan mini-tournament of the African Zone qualifiers will secure the ticket for the final round of the intercontinental playoff, next March, with the winner finally qualifying for the World Cup (June-July,2026).
To qualify to face Nigeria, DR Congo secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Cameroun.
The match, held at Al Barid Stadium in Rabat, saw captain Chancel Mbemba of LOSC Lille score the only goal of the match very late in the second half, sending the Congolese side through.
The match against Nigeria promises to be a thrilling contest between two of Africa’s top footballing nations.
The Nigeria-DR Congo matchup is set to hold at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
With so much at stake, both national teams will be eager to win the final to keep hopes of playing at next year’s World Cup alive.
