Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD) has pledged to strengthen the existing collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to enhance safety on roads in the nation’s capital.
Acting Director General (DG), FEMD, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed made the pledge when he received members of the Central Business District (CBD) Sector of FRSC led by its Unit Commander, Assistant Corps Commander Zayanu Ibrahim in Abuja, according to a press release issued today by FEMD’s Head of Public Affairs, Nkechi Isa.
Engr. Mohammed noted that as emergency responders, both agencies must work together to save lives.
His words: “As responders, we must collaborate, there should be no rivalry. You can demand capacity from us because we have access to our statutory stakeholders. We must also leverage the emergency ambulance service established by the Federal Government.”
Describing FRSC as partners in progress, the FEMD boss charged his Search and Rescue Team to consolidate existing relationship with FRSC.
Earlier, Assistant Corps Commander Ibrahim noted that FEMD was strategic in road safety management.
“We carry out the same duties; but we enforce, you don’t enforce. I see both agencies as one because we do similar duties of ensuring the safety of our people.”
He expressed hope that both agencies would further strengthen already existing collaboration.
Ibrahim was recently deployed to the CBD following promotion to his present rank.
