Police In Kaduna Invite El-Rufai, Others For Questioning On Monday

Trouble appears to be in the offing for immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, as the State Police Command invited him and some members of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) for questioning over alleged criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt.

In one of life’s ironies, with the shoe now on the other foot, interestingly it is the same Police Command that El-Rufai, as governor (2015-2023) used to dish out directives on security matters, that has now invited and is set to question him.

El-Rufai and the others were ordered to appear at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on Monday, September 8.

A police invitation letter dated Thursday, September 4, 2025, signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of CID, Uzainu Abdullahi, directed the State Chairman of ADC to produce El-Rufai and the others.

Those listed in the invitation are Bashir Sa’idu, Jafaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed (popularly known as 30), Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini (also known as Mikiya).

Titled ‘Investigation Activities: Case of Criminal Conspiracy, Inciting Disturbance of Public Peace, Mischief and Causing Grievous Hurt’, the letter stated that the invitation was to enable the individuals clarify allegations reported against them.

Security operatives had on Wednesday sealed the ADC office at No. 4 Ali Akilu Road, Kaduna, hours before the party’s North-West leadership was scheduled to visit the state chapter on a commiseration mission.

Several police vehicles were seen around the premises blocking access to the party’s office.

The visit was to sympathise with party members injured when political thugs attacked a coalition meeting of Social Democratic Party (SDP) and ADC in Kaduna last week.
