Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State was on Sunday evening, July 20, involved in an auto crash.
He was said to be returning from Daura, the hometown of the late former president Muhammadu Buhari, to Katsina town when the crash occurred.
Though a Government House press statement on the accident described it as “a minor accident”, independent sources familiar with the matter claimed that Gov. Radda’s leg was impacted in the crash.
Another claimed that the governor had a fracture and was treated,in the first instance, at the Federal Medical Centre, Daura.
The governor’s spokesman, Ibrahim Mohammed, who confirmed the accident in a statement, explained that Radda was involved in ‘’a minor accident’’ while performing official duties.
His statement read: “Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda was involved in a minor road accident this evening along the Daura-Katsina Road, while carrying out his official duties in service to the people of Katsina State.
“We are pleased to confirm that the governor is in good health and stable condition, with no serious injuries sustained. Governor Radda remains in high spirits and expresses his gratitude to Almighty Allah for His protection, as well as Katsina citizens and well-wishers for their prayers and concern.”
Details of the crash could not be ascertained, as of press time, but a source cited possible over-speeding as a cause.
