Narrowly escaping death from assassins’ bullets in Abuja, opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the November 8,2025, poll in Anambra State, Jude Ezenwafor, is reportedly battling for life in a private hospital in Nigeria’s capital.
A source said he has been operated upon to extract bullets from his body, but could not say if his condition was stable or not.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command said it is investigating the assassination bid.
Two other persons with Ezenwafor at the time were reportedly also shot.
The multimillionaire governorship candidate was returning home from an appointment on Friday night when unidentified gunmen accosted and shot at him in the opulent Wuse 2 axis of Abuja, wounding him in the process.
By the skin of his teeth, Ezenwafor escaped alive to tell the story.
However, amid reports in social media of his death, it was learned that the real estate developer is not dead,but that medical doctors are battling to save his life.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Josephine Adeh, disclosed that a crack team of detectives had swung into action to unearth details of the attempted murder.
Adeh added that the “true position and situation surrounding the incident cannot be ascertained at the moment.”
Ezenwafor himself informed newsmen early Saturday morning that he was attacked by gunmen, sustained injuries and was billed to undergo surgery to remove bullet pellets from his body.
“I’m currently in the hospital. The doctors are making efforts to operate me so that they can pull out bullets from my body,” he said.
