Apparently moving to re-engineer governance and inject fresh ideas for effective and efficient service delivery, Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has made some high profile appointments.
The appointments take effect from Monday, July 7.
The governor has approved the appointment of Professor Qrissturbeg Msughter Amua as the pioneer Vice Chancellor (VC), University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihugh.
Furthermore, he made other appointments into the state-owned higher institution These include Dr. Johnson Ijale Echor as Registrar; Mr. James Ormye, Bursar; and Dr. Demekaa Umbur, Librarian.
A statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Tersoo Kula, which disclosed these, added that Gov. Alia was not done yet.
Kula stated that the governor also appointed Professor Ode Boniface as Provost, College of Education, Oju; Dr Tyodoo Iyue, Provost, College of Education, Katsina Ala; Mr. Anta Igbaato, Acting General Manager, Benue State Sanitation Authority; Mr. Bem Tseen, Executive Secretary, Benue State Teaching Service Board; and Mr. Joseph Kwaghgba; Acting General Manager, Benue Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
According to the statement, the developments were in furtherance of the Governor’s commitment to repositioning all institutions of government for optimal service delivery, efficiency, and accountability.
“The new appointees were carefully selected based on their track record of competence, dedication, and integrity,” Kula noted.
The governor’s spokesman noted that Alia has charged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by discharging their duties diligently and in line with the administration’s vision of transforming the State.
“The present Acting Executive Secretary, Teaching Service Board and the Acting Chairman, Benue Internal Revenue Services are both directed to report back to Head of Service for reassignment of other responsibilities, while the Acting General Manager, BENSESSA is to report back to the Governor’s office,” the statement directed.
