A total of 9991 students of the Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), formerly Benue State University, were today matriculated into the institution.
The lucky ones formed part of about 26,000 prospective students who applied for admissions into the university this session.
Speaking during the matriculation ceremony in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Simon Terver Ubwa urged the matriculating students to consider the opportunity as a golden one, warning against toying with it.
Professor Ubwa stated that the university management would equip and create conducive environment for them to excel in their various programmes so as to enable them contribute to their communities after graduation.
The Acting VC urged the new students to comply with the university’s rules and regulations, pledging that management would continue to maintain high standards in the quality of academic programmes.
Ubwa charged them to abide by the covenant they have entered into with the university and emphasized that the management would remain dedicated in ensuring quality education to shape their character and intellectual capabilities.
He told the students to make use of the University’s resources such as its library, bookshop, clinic, guidance and counseling centre, career services and improved ICT infrastructure.
“Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University is a student-centered institution committed to providing you with every opportunity and support to achieve your highest potential. I encourage you to immerse yourself in both the curricular and extracurricular activities available at the University. Take advantage of the various resources offered to ensure you make the most of your time here,” Ubwa advised.
The Acting VC acknowledged the immense and sustained contributions of the Governor of Benue State/Visitor to the University, Iormem Alia, towards the development and growth of the institution.
He also acknowledged the Governor’s approval of the establishment of a campus of the University at Adikpo, located in Kwande Local Government Area of the state, which would accommodate the Faculties of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, as well as Industrial Studies, with academic activities set to commence in September 2025.
