In a ceremony that celebrated unsung contributors to national development, Director of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Education Resource Centre, Dr Neemat Daud Abdulrahim, received the coveted Silent Heroes Award for Education, at the Wells Carlton Hotel, Asokoro, Abuja, the nation’s capital.
A quiet yet influential presence in Nigeria’s education sector for more than three decades, Dr Abdulrahim has guided the transformation of school and community libraries from dusty shelves to dynamic digital hubs.
Her early years as a librarian cemented a passion for literacy; today, she drives sector-wide change through digital-literacy programmes, forward-looking policy direction, and large-scale capacity-building initiatives that have empowered thousands of pupils and teachers across the FCT.
The 2025 Silent Heroes Awards witnessed a convergence of dignitaries and honourees from security, health, media, leadership, education, banking, technology, and public service sectors, each recognised for significant, selfless contributions often made outside the limelight.
Dr Abdulrahim’s accolade underscores the vital role of educators who, behind the scenes, shape the nation’s future.
In her acceptance speech, she paid tribute to the people who propelled her journey:
“I dedicate this award to my family, friends, and colleagues whose unwavering support has sustained me. To every educator working quietly for change: keep going—one day your efforts will be celebrated too,” she said.
The recognition reaffirmed Dr Abdulrahim’s enduring commitment to equitable, 21st-century learning and sets a benchmark for stakeholders determined to raise Nigeria’s educational standards.
