Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD) has refuted a report today (not in People&Politics ) which claimed that scores of persons were feared dead on a fresh auto crash near Karu Bridge in the nation’s capital territory.

Exactly two months (March 19, 2025) on the day about 15 persons lost their lives in multiple auto crashes close to the same bridge, it was the scene of a fresh accident today, May 19.

The bridge is located on the busy Abuja-Keffi Expressway.

However, according to FEMD, no life was lost in the latest crash.

In a statement signed by FEMD’s Head, Public Affairs, Nkechi Isa, a copy of which was made available to People&Politics tonight, the department said the latest accident involved a J5 truck conveying sachet water and a trailer belonging to local conglomerate, Dangote Group.

Isa stated: “A road accident involving a J5 sachet water truck and a Dangote trailer occurred today at the Karu bridge in the FCT.

“No life was lost to the incident.

“The J5 driver, however, sustained some injuries and has been taken to the hospital.

“The accident occurred when the sachet water truck hit his brake on sighting personnel of the road maintenance agency carrying out repair works on the road by Karu bridge.
