Ango Takes Over As FCTA’s Agric Mandate Secretary


In the wake of the recent reshuffle in Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Hon. Abdullahi Suleiman Ango has officially assumed office as the Mandate Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS).

During a reception to formally receive him at the Secretariat, Ango expressed heartfelt gratitude to FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, and Minister of State, FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, for entrusting him with the responsibility.

He emphasized the critical role agriculture plays as the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, particularly in light of the rapidly growing population of the FCT.

While acknowledging that Agriculture remains the backbone of our economy, Ango stated that “with the increasing population in the FCT, it is imperative that we embrace innovative practices to enhance food security, create jobs, and empower the youth.”

Ango underscored his zero-tolerance policy for complacency, urging his team to prioritize professionalism and teamwork.

He outlined plans to hold immediate strategic briefings with departmental heads and undertake on-site inspections of key projects to assess their progress and impact.

Welcoming the Mandate Secretary, Director of Cooperative and Rural Development, Engr. Gbemi Josiah Omole, who spoke on behalf of the ARDS management team, assured the Mandate Secretary of the team’s full support in achieving his vision for sustainable growth in the agricultural sector.

According to him, “Your leadership comes at a pivotal time when we need to make positive impacts on the lives of FCT residents and we are confident that your expertise will usher in a new era of progress and development.”

The shake-up in the Administration saw Hon. Ango swap positions with the former Mandate Secretary, ARDS, Mr Ibrahim Geidam, who was redeployed to the Youth and Sports Secretariat.
