Another Truck Accident Under Karu Bridge

For the second time in two days, another accident occurred today, March 20, under Karu Bridge along the busy Abuja-Keffi Expressway.

The previous one, which occurred on Wednesday evening, March 19, took many lives, with many others injured, and led to the destruction of several vehicles.

While the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD) said 10 persons died, the FCT Police Command gave a figure of six even as eye witnesses claimed that at least 15 persons were killed in the multiple crash.

A press statement from FEMD on the latest accident, and signed by the department’s Head of Public Affairs, Nkechi Isa, stated that “thankfully no life was lost to the incident.”

Isa added: “Our Search and rescue team say the accident occurred when a truck laden with fertilizer ran into a Hijet and a dump truck also known as tipper.

“In a reaction , the Ag Director General of FEMD Engr Abdulrahman Mohammed has advised motorists to drive with caution as the Federal Road Safety Corps is taking steps to tow away the affected vehicles in order to avoid traffic built up.

“Engr Abdulrahman is calling on drivers to obey traffic regulations in order to drive to stay alive.”
