Members of the public should eschew buying stolen phones or be ready to risk the consequences.

The warning was made by the Zamfara State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC). The commandant of the corps, Dani Mustapha, also urged scrap dealers to stop buying and selling vandalised property.

He gave the warning during a meeting with the leadership of the Amalgamated Traders Association, Zamfara State chapter. It held at the NSCDC command headquarters in Gusau on Tuesday.

A statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, SC Ikor Oche, said part (1), section 3 (g) of the NSCDC Act, 2023 empowers the corps to monitor the activities of trade associations across the country, adding that the provision also empowers the NSCDC to ensure that businesses operate within legal and ethical boundaries.

The commandant called on the traders to demonstrate transparency in their business operations and stressed the need for integrity and accountability in trade practices.

Muhammad Zubairu, the leader of the traders’ delegation, thanked NSCDC for combating crimes in the state.
