It’s scary when someone you once loved with all your heart, someone you thought you knew change into a monster right before you.
I remembered when I ended things with my ex before my unidays, he couldn’t take the break up. He threatened me that if he couldn’t have me, no one would. He literally showed up anytime I was with another man, just to threaten and warn him to stay off me. With his intimidating height and popularity, he was a menace. Guys were in fear once they saw him. The men exclaimed that they didn’t want to die.
I was miserable. How he knew my every move became so scary. I remember when our landlord’s son told me that there was this black Toyota Camry that was always parked by our compound. He expressed concerns that the car looked like that of my boyfriend. He never knew we’d broken up.
I got so miserable and tired. He stalked me everywhere I went. After tormenting me for a full year, he gave up. A few years later, I ran into his nephew and was told that he was sick, I had to see him. It’s so sad we lost him. RIP.
My story had a bittersweet ending, but many others never get the chance to heal. I’ve heard stories, some true, some retold, of heartbreaks that turned people into something unrecognizable.
Tessy was a top model in America. The modelling industry was pretty tense and demanding. Hollywood lifestyle can be overwhelming, and the dark side of Hollywood can ruin one’s life, career and relationship.
All eyes were on Tessy. She was young and beautiful. She had a boyfriend, who was an introvert. Tessy had to live as an extrovert if she ever wanted to survive the industry.
She had to meet new people and new opportunities. Modelling jobs don’t knock on your door without connection and where do you get these opportunities? At Hollywood parties.
She mixed with the elites, attended parties and had to meet new friends. Suddenly, she got carried away. She loved the attention she was getting. She was introduced to the White House and was a professional escort to one of the ambassadors of one of the world’s powerful countries. Oh, the dark side of Hollywood, using one’s body to get jobs and live in luxury. But to Tessy, it was a huge honour to be with such an ambassador.
She was too deep in the darkness to see the light. Her boyfriend Klaus saw a new Tessy and he never liked it. He caught her doing drugs one day and threw them away. This got her angry and she decided to end things with him. She threw him out of her apartment and changed the password lock to her apartment.
Tessy later moved into a penthouse. Life was good. Klaus was bitter. He battled quiet depression months before Tessy left, unknown to her. He was there when she was a nobody, now he asked, “so I am nothing to her?”
Klaus had a mental breakdown when he saw on the tabloid that she was dating a popular movie star. His eyes turned blood red.
He knew Tessy always went to an old abandoned opera building. She always went to the rooftop to sit and think. Klaus knew this and monitored her every move. He bidded time before deciding to strike.
That evening, she drove to the abandoned building and climbed to the rooftop. Unknown to her, Klaus was lurking in the dark. She brought out her drugs and injected herself, feeling high and happy. Klaus came out of the dark, pushed her and she fell and met her death. It would have been an untraceable murder if Tessy had not dragged his hair before falling. A few strands of hair was the evidence that later pinned him to the crime of murder which he confessed to.
For Eno, it was a sad one for her too. She dated Williams for four years. Suddenly, he realised she was not his spec. So he broke up with her on her birthday.
Eno was shocked when Williams started dating her best friend. She became livid. “They used me,” She soliloquied. One day, she had a mental breakdown, bought acid and visited her best friend. The moment the friend opened the door, she was showered with an acid bath.
Eno ran out of town. And Williams is still in the trail looking for her, with the police. As for the best friend? Deformed and unmarried. Williams is nolonger with her. She betrayed her friend for nothing. Karma, is that you? Sad. Eno is still on the run. Love betrayed them all.
Delight was disowned by her family for choosing to marry Ola. Both families are sworn enemies. But Delight refused to sacrifice her happiness over a petty dispute. She went ahead and married Ola. She gave her all to make the marriage work. But some marriages are beyond saving.
She couldn’t bear a child for Ola. This brought issues in the marriage. One day, a distant relative of hers was stranded, and she offered to help and accommodate her. Right under her nose, Ola started sleeping with the said relative. One day, she came home rather early to share the good news that she was pregnant. What she saw can give a miscarriage.
She saw her husband making love to her relative and her relative was asking, “Can my stupid cousin do you as good as I do? Tell me how bad she is in bed. “
Delight heard her husband say awful things about her. She was in shock, she couldn’t move. She just stood there in disbelief. It was after they were done that the lovebirds got off the bed and saw her. No remorse. Nothing. He told her that her relative was pregnant and that he wanted a divorce.
Just like that, her marriage ended. She refused to let it go so easily. She lost her family because of this man. There was an ongoing investigation in her husband’s office that some money was stolen. Delight marched to her husband’s boss and told him her husband was guilty and that he had confessed to her.
She told his boss that she couldn’t live with such wickedness, which was the reason for seeking divorce from her husband. She said her conscience won’t let her stay married to a thief. She was insistent until her husband was arrested.
An innocent man was made to pay for another sin. The court hearing was scheduled a few weeks ahead, and Delight is ready to stand in court and testify against him. How did I get to hear? Her close friend told me the story. Sad how Ola turned his loving wife into a monster. She became his karma.
Manny was a young, a promising young man. He met Brenda when he was a struggling man. They courted and felt they were compatible. If only Brenda knew that you don’t trust the loyalty of a hungry man. Poverty comes with a touch of humility.
She secured him a job in her place of work. They grew into comfort. With the aid of her side hustles, she secured them a land and together they built their first home. She was the engine room of the home, but she never made him feel less of a man.
They had three kids and Manny hit a contract that made him swim in extreme wealth. The day of celebration was the start of a dilemma. Manny suddenly remembered he was into curvy ladies, and Brenda had a rectangular body shape. He suddenly found her unattractive. He urged her to go for a BBL surgery, which she objects to. He stopped making love to her and spent more time outside.
For one year, Brenda did not feel the warmth of a man. She was finally in wealth, but bitter and unhappy. She suddenly missed when they were struggling. She craved to have back her humble husband. She did the unthinkable and sorted for a dark solution. She sought the help of a traditional voodoo priest who helped her bring her husband back to the level she met him.
Suddenly, he lost everything and was back to the mercy of his wife. Unknown to him, his wife was the brain behind his misfortune. He was back to the humble man she met and loved.
To Joy, it was a sad ending. Her husband suddenly left her with three kids. Too heartbroken to bear it all, she fell into depression. She vented her anger on her innocent children constantly and isolated herself. The husband of her youth that she constantly bragged about to people and on social media left her. She was ashamed.
She took a sad turn by poisoning herself and her three kids. The news shocked family and friends. They never saw it coming. Heartbreak made her take three innocent lives and her own. It was a sad day that ended with gloom.
It’s scary how people could change into a monster or have a hardened heart because of a heartbreak. It’s best we treat people right. Stop creating a monster out of people. Marry for love and not as an act of survival. Stop playing games. A lot of people don’t wait for karma. They choose to be living karma.
Heartbreak doesn’t have to breed monsters. We all carry scars of heartbreak, but not all of us choose to bleed on others. Love responsibly. Let go with dignity. Choose healing.
