Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has officially flagged off the contract notification award ceremony for local contractors involved in the UBEC/SUBEB 2024 Matching Grant Projects.
This represents an investment of ₦5,917,330,703.95 aimed at revitalizing the state’s educational infrastructure.
The ceremony, tagged ‘Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) 2024 matching grant projects’, which held at the Government House, Gusau, the state capital, underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of basic education for all children in Zamfara State.
Speaking, Gov. Lawal maintained that education is significant in every human society as it remained the cornerstone for nation building and human development.
He highlighted the various initiatives under the 2024 Matching Grant Projects, including the construction of new mega schools, renovation of existing facilities, and implementation of enhanced security measures to create safe learning environments.
“Quality education begins with quality infrastructure,” he stated, reinforcing the government’s dedication to equipping students with the necessary resources for academic success.
“These initiatives represent a substantial investment in the future of Zamfara State. This significant allocation underscores our firm belief in education as a powerful catalyst for social and economic development, not only within our state but across Nigeria,” the governor noted.
Governor Lawal also addressed the importance of health and sanitation in schools, announcing plans to install proper Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities in them.
“By promoting health and hygiene in our schools, we are investing not just in education but also in the well-being of our children,” he remarked.
The extensive investment, he restated, aims at ensuring that every child in Zamfara has access to quality educational opportunities and clean environment.
In his speech, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Malam Wadatau Madawaki, expressed gratitude for the proven competence of the contractors selected for the ambitious initiative.
He urged them to uphold high standards of professionalism and accountability, emphasizing that their roles are vital in executing projects that symbolize hope for the future of Zamfara’s children.
The Commissioner reiterated the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of these educational initiatives.
He emphasized that such would foster a sense of ownership among stakeholders, ensuring that the projects would be of immense benefit to all communities in Zamfara State.
The ceremony, observers noted, stood as a testament to the State’s commitment to transforming its educational landscape focusing on infrastructure, health, and safety -initiatives that are poised to provide children with a brighter future, empowering them to become the leaders and innovators of tomorrow.
