Leader of Islamic Movement In Nigeria (IMN), also known as the Shiites, Sheikh Ibrahim Yakub El-Zakzaky, has distributed foodstuffs to Christian widows.
The internationally renowned Muslim leader showed his milk of human kindness and commendable example of religious tolerance by distributing numerous bags of foodstuff items ahead of the forthcoming Sallah celebration which marks the end of the ongoing Ramadan.
The distribution was facilitated through the General Overseer (GO), Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Kaduna, Pastor (Dr) Yohanna Buru.
Sheikh El-Zakzaky has a tradition of extending food assistance to both Muslims and Christians before and during Sallah, with the gesture targeted at promoting peace, unity, and strengthening interfaith relationship in the country.
His food assistance is done in Nigeria’s 36 states.
According to Pastor Buru, this year’s distribution is special and significant due to the prevailing economic hardship and the high cost of living following the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
He emphasized that the El-Zakzaky initiative is aimed at alleviating the suffering caused by economic challenges, Naira devaluation, and the rising cost of foodstuffs in the market.
Acknowledging the widespread hunger in the land, Pastor Buru emphasized the importance of these food items in providing relief to both Muslims and Christians before and during the Sallah celebration.
He also highlighted Sheikh El-Zakzaky’s consistency in providing assistance to the less privileged during various festivities as well as the Ramadan.
Expressing her gratitude, one of the widows, Madam Gloria Musa, who received a bag of rice, shared her story, revealing that her household had gone without food for two days.
Madam Musa lamented the lack of government’s palliative items, despite hearing about them, and urged the relevant authorities to ensure that government’s assistance,if real, reaches those who actually need them.
Madam Musa called for peace and unity in the country, urging both Muslims and Christians to pray for the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
She also appealed to Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State to prioritize the welfare of widows and orphans, assuring him of their prayers for the success of his administration.
Recall that at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, a Kaduna-based church distributed bags of grains to over 1,000 Muslims in the North, to promote peace, unity, and religious tolerance.
